Apple’s iPhone 8 is set to be unveiled tomorrow

The wait for the is almost over with expected to reveal all at a major event tomorrow.

With the iPhone celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Apple is expected to pull-out all of the stops for its next generation device.

Rumours are rife that the iPhone 8 will feature a stunning new design and plenty of extras which will make it a major upgrade over its predecessors.

The iPhone 8 could be the first Apple device to include an edge-to-edge display with the screen covering almost the entire front of the device.

Upgraded processor, new dual-lens camera and a glass finish will all add to its appeal.

Apple is also thought to be including wireless charging which will mean the device can be refilled without going near a plug.

Notorious leakster Evan Blass, better known by his online handle @evleaks, believes this all-new flagship iPhone will be branded “iPhone X”.

He tweeted: “FWIW, I’ve also heard “iPhone X” (though not 8 / 8 Plus for the JV squad) as well as 9/15 pre-orders and 9/22 release / ship date.”

There had been some rumours the iterative iPhone 7S and 7S Plus would be rebranded as iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, although Blass clearly disputes this theory.

iPhone X makes a certain amount of sense, after all, the new handset will mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone range.

According to Blass, pre-orders for the new iPhone will become available online on Friday September 15th.

The latest hardware will ship to customers available and become available to pick-up or buy in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores the following week, Friday September 22nd.

Blass is usually very reliable, but as always, nothing is confirmed until Apple announces it on-stage, so take this with a healthy pinch of salt.

So, if you are a huge Apple fan here’s everything you need to know ahead of its big release next week.

WHEN WILL THE iPHONE 8 BE UNVEILED?

The launch gets underway at 10am (6pm BST) tomorrow and will take place at Apple’s new HQ in Cupertino.

Apple Park only recently opened and includes a purpose built theatre named after the firm’s founder Steve Jobs.

The 1,000 seat auditorium is where Tim Cook will unveil the iPhone 8 with the device expected to be shown to the world at around 11am (7pm BST).

WHEN WILL IT GO ON SALE?

Fans will find out an official release date tomorrow but Apple usually releases its new smartphones around a week after they are unveiled.

Friday’s are the favoured date for Apple fans to pick up their shiny new iPhones which could mean the new call maker will hit shops on Friday 22 September.

However, before you get too excited it’s worth noting that the iPhone 8 is expected to be in huge demand with some recent reports suggesting Apple may struggle to keep up with demand.

This could mean some people may not be able to get their hands on the iPhone 8 until later in the year.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Rumours are rife that the iPhone 8 will be the most expensive smartphone Apple has ever made.

Some reports have put a price of $1000 on this latest device.

According to a new report by The New York Times, this ultra-premium iPhone will start from $999 (£780).

The US newspaper says this is price is based on accounts from those who have already been briefed on the product and who requested to remain anonymous.

It’s unclear if this price will be the base model and whether costs will be even higher for the top-of-the-line device with extra memory.

Apple’s current smartphone line-up of devices starts at £599 for the iPhone 7 with 32GB of onboard storage, but quickly rises to £919 for the maxed-out iPhone 7 Plus.

Finally, Apple will announce when iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra will be officially released to iPhones, iPads and Macs across the world.
