Crystal Palace news: Frank de Boer on the brink as Burnley defeat makes it four in a row

The Dutchman is clinging to his job with his side pointless and goalless in the Premier League after defeat by Burnley sealed by Chris Wood’s goal.

But De Boer is still convinced he can turn it around despite being unsure if chairman Steve Parish will wield the axe before next Saturday’s clash with Southampton.

When asked if he feared the worst, the Dutchman said: “I don’t know. I just focus on what I can control and my staff, the players and keep thinking about Southampton from today. That is all I can do.

“What other people think, they have to decide but when I’m still the manager of Palace I will give 100 per cent.”

Crystal Palace were behind after just three minutes when Chung-Yong Lee mistakenly played in Wood to score on his first Premier League start.

The Eagles did respond and had a number of chances in the game which has given De Boer hope he can turn it around as he denied he was handed an ultimatum by the board to get a result yesterday.

He said: “I think it is a fantastic starting point. I will sign for every game if we create that amount of chances against any opponent. You will get your points and get what you deserve. I have very good contact with the chairman and the board.

“Of course we are very critical to each other but always when we leave the room we have only one opinion and that is still that we are still with the project and we know where we come from and what we want to achieve. I’m convinced we are going to achieve it.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was delighted his side got their second league win of the season but his celebrations were dampened by Tom Heaton suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder.

The England keeper fell awkwardly collecting a cross in the first half and could now face months on the sidelines.

Dyche said: “Tom has a suspected dislocated shoulder. We will have to see what it is. If it is that, it is not weeks, more like months.”
