Overwatch Mercy UPDATE: Blizzard making another MAJOR change to character on PS4, Xbox One

Overwatch developer Blizzard is updating more than just Mercy’s Ultimate ability.

Mercy is currently in the process of being revamped on the Overwatch PTR (Public Test Realm) on PC.

Once Blizzard is happy with the changes, the character update will be rolled out to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

As part of the Mercy update, the popular will only be able to resurrect characters on an individual basis. This will be a regular move with a cooldown period.

Her Ultimate ability  – which currently revives all downed teammates – will be replaced with a move called Valkyrie.

Valkyrie boosts Mercy’s ability and grants her the power of flight.

But it’s not just Mercy’s moves that will be transformed as part of the update. Her Huge Rez Achievement will also be changed.

Players can currently unlock the Huge Rez achievement by reviving four downed teammates in one go.

Accomplishing this task unlocks a special spray for Mercy.

Unless Blizzard changes it once the update goes live, the new way to unlock the achievement is by reviving six teammates without dying.

Fortunately, Valkyrie resets the cooldown period for Mercy’s single revive move, and then cuts the cooldown period to just 10 seconds when the Ultimate is active.

Blizzard explains:  “While resurrecting downed allies is a core part of Mercy’s gameplay, the way her Ultimate functioned was causing a number of problems.

“It was frustrating to play against, and it incentivised Mercy players to hide away from important battles, instead of taking part in them. This version turns Resurrect into a single target ability.

“It’s still an important part of Mercy’s kit, but plays much better for both Mercy players and her enemies.

“Valkyrie, her new Ultimate, gives her the opportunity to make big game-making plays and opens a number of new options for her.”
