Arsenal news: I wish Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain well at Liverpool – Arsene Wenger

Oxlade-Chamberlain was sold by Arsenal on deadline day for £40million after Wenger claimed for months that he would not be allowed to leave.

The 24-year-old had his first day at Liverpool on Wednesday and was greeted with a big hug from manager Jurgen Klopp.

But Wenger is refusing to be bitter about losing Oxlade-Chamberlain and believes his departure will allow young players to break into the team.

Wenger said: “I wish him well and wish him all the best.

“At the end of the day you make decisions.

“We had to sell somebody and overall I believe today we are in a strong enough financial situation as always and we have a good enough squad to compete.

“Sometimes it opens the door for some younger players, who get an opportunity they otherwise might not get.”
