Star Wars 8 Last Jedi news: Carrie Fisher’s General Leia is ‘as you’ve never seen before’

The iconic actress played General Leia in the franchise; wrapping work for Episode VIII – The Last Jedi before her untimely death in December 2016.

Now, speaking at Fan Expo Canada 2017, Daniels – who plays C-3PO – has opened up about watching her scenes back ahead of the movie’s release.

“The magic of the movies is you will see her as you’ve never seen before,” he said.

“The other day when I was putting my voice back on [The Last Jedi], I had completely forgotten what we had shot.

“Suddenly in the footage that I’m watching, there she is, living forever. That’s movies for you.”

Leia was originally set to take centre-stage in Episode IX, the concluding movie of the trilogy – but the plot had to be drastically rewritten after Fisher’s passing.

It was initially believed that she would appear in a smaller capacity via recent archive footage, but Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy confirmed this would not be the case.

Instead, Episode 8 will be her final on-screen appearance.
