Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar COUNTDOWN: Release date, time for PS4, Xbox update

Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar DLC is about to release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Described as the biggest Battlefield expansion of all time, In the Name of the Tsar has a September 5 release date, but only if you’re a Premium Pass holder.

If you don’t have a season pass, you can download In the Name of the Tsar as a standalone pack on September 19.

DICE is yet to announce an official release time, but an EA spokesperson told Express Online that UK players can expect it at some point in the morning of September 5.

If it’s anything like , then it could have a staggered release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

They Shall Not Pass launched alongside an update and offline maintenance period that started at 8am UK time for PC, 10am for PS4 and 12pm on Xbox One.

The upcoming DLC shifts the action to the Eastern front, where players will join the Russian army.

In terms of new content, In the Name of the Tsar adds six new maps, as well as new weapons, calvary and even a brand new game mode.

New maps include Lupkow Pass, Albion, Galicia, Brusilov Keep, Volga River and Tsaritsyn.

Tsaritsyn: “The Red Army and the White Army battle among barricaded streets as the old and new regimes fight for the soul of Russia. This up-close and personal infantry fight is as brutal as they come.”

Volga River: “A ruined battleground sets the stage for a tank fight between the Bolsheviks in red and the Imperial Army in white. Makeshift shelters provide cover from the freezing cold and the constant exchange of heavy firepower.”

Lupkow Pass: “Fight in the snow-covered ravines of the treacherous Lupkow Pass. Against this dramatic backdrop, the vertical fights are as bitter as the cold. Coming in August, followed by the entirety of the expansion pack in September.”

Albion: “Partake in the skirmishes of the Albion assault in a freezing archipelago. In this massive invasion of the Baltic peninsula, the German Empire attacks with infantry, dreadnoughts, and aircraft against the heavy coastal gun batteries of the Russian forces.”

Galicia: “In the midst of the epic Brusilov Offensive, the Russian Empire is fighting to push back the Austro-Hungarian forces in the Russian countryside. Take on an open map focused on infantry, cavalry, and light vehicles.”

Brusilov Keep: “The Russians have pushed their enemy into a small mountain town, but the Austro-Hungarians are making a strong stand. Experience close-quarter fights by the Carpathians on an infantry-focused map.”

Perhaps most exciting of all is the Supply Drop game mode, in which teams fight for supplies dropped by planes.

In the Name of the Tsar also adds female soldiers to the game as part of the first Russian Women’s Battalion of Death.

Elsewhere, DICE will introduce 11 new Russian-themed weapons, vehicles including the Ilya-Muromets Heavy Bomber, and a powerful new stationary weapon.

The accompanying update will introduce new HDR visual options on PS4 Pro, Xbox One and PC. Patch notes will follow.

Members of the Community Test Environment on PC will also notice that DICE is about to deploy a huge weapons update, which will increase damage, accuracy and range.
