T20 Finals Day 2017 LIVE: Latest score as Birmingham BEAT Glamorgan at Edgbaston

T20 Finals Day 2017 featuring Birmingham and GlamorganGETTY

Birmingham and Glamorgan face off in the first semi-final of T20 Finals Day 2017

Birmingham won a thrilling quarterfinal against Surrey to book their place in Finals Day, chasing down 204 at The Oval thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Kiwi skipper Grant Elliott.

They face Glamorgan in the opening match, who brutalised Leicestershire Foxes with a nine-wicket win in the last eight.

In the second semi-final, Hampshire face North Division table-toppers Nottinghamshire Outlaws who will be hoping Riki Wessels can carry forward his terrific 2017 form – he has 492 T20 Blast runs already and hit a 77-ball hundred in the County Championship earlier this week.

T20 Finals Day LIVE – Latest from Birmingham v Glamorgan

2pm: Okay, we’ll take half an hour to adjust ourselves and make enough tea to feed the entire office. Notts and Hants will be on the stage in half an hour’s time. Hampshire skipper James Vince has won the toss and chosen to bowl first.

1.50pm: BIRMINGHAM BEARS WIN BY 11 RUNS!

My goodnes Chris Woakes will have had his heart in his mouth there. He had to concede fewer than 26 runs in his final over but saw Andrew Salter go four-four-six from his first three balls. But the fourth is skied down the long-on where two Bears collide – but Adam Hose clings onto the catch. Remarkable.

Brilliant from Birmingham, who can now put their feet up and watch Notts and Hampshire battle it out for the right to face them.

1.45pm: 32 runs required off the last two overs with eight wickets down. This task will be beyond Salter and De Lange you would think. Chris Woakes has still got an over in his pocket too which will probably be crucial and the last. De Lange has just heaved De Grandhomme for a sizeable six but he’ll need a few more of those.

Glamorgan 143/8 off 18 overs

1.30pm: Has Aaron Thomason just sealed Birmingham’s place in the final? I think he might have done. He fields smartly off his own bowling and then quickly flicks the ball back at the bowler’s end where he catches Rudolph out of his crease! The skipper is stunned but he has to go for 65! Massive ask for Glamorgan now.

Glamorgan 118/6 off 15 overs

1.15pm: Rudolph has 50 and he will probably need to double up if he wants to book a spot in the final. The required run-rate is up above 10 now and he only has veteran Graham Wagg for company. There isn’t really any batting to come either.

Glamorgan 84/5 off 11 overs

1pm: Real trouble brewing for Glamorgan now. First, Ingram is dismissed by another brilliant catch this time by Elliott, running backwards and diving to get his hands under a steepler.

Then his replacement David Miller nicks off for a duck and it looks like it will all be down to Jacques Rudolph in his last game because Kiran Carlson is gone too. Big ask for the experienced South African.

Glamorgan 59/4 off six overs

12.45pm: What a dramatic start. Aneurin Donald lifts his first ball over cover for four and tries to swat his second to the leg-side boundary, only for Sam Hain to take an amazing, juggling catch!

But that hasn’t stopped Rudolph and Ingram hitting five boundaries between them in the first 18 balls.

Glamorgan 30/1 off three overs

12.20pm: That’s a fine effort from Glamorgan to pull that back from the first power play.

De Grandhomme hit a powerful 30 off 18 balls but Colin Ingram and Marchant de Lange have both bowled brilliantly at the dead.

Three wickets in the last over – two of them run outs – keep it to just six off the final set.

Birmingham 175/9 off 20 overs (Pollock 50 off 27, Elliott 32 of 26, De Grandhomme 30 off 18)

12pm: The Bears are trying to get the innings moving here and it’s Elliott who is taking it upon himself to do so.

The skipper heaves Wagg for four twice in a row and his fellow Kiwi Colin de Grandhomme follows suit off the last ball of the over to make it 15 in total from the 15th. 190 looks pretty tough now but that will still be their target.

Birmingham 129/4 off 15 overs

11.40am: Two more wickets down as both Adam Hose and Sibley are ciaght in the deep. That means the exciting Sam Hain and skipper Grant Elliott are at the crease with the task of getting the Bears up towards 190 from this platform.

There’s a lovely reverse sweep from Hain for four to get him going and the predicted score at the halfway stage is 186.

Birmingham 92/3 off 10 overs (Pollock 50)

11.25am: The first powerplay is over and so is Pollock’s injury. After reaching 50 off 23 balls, he has flayed De Lange straight to point. Well caught because it was going fast but Glamorgan will be glad to have stopped the onslaught.

Birmingham 65/1 off six overs (Pollock 50)

11.15am: Woof. Ed Pollock has FLOWN out of the blocks. The Bears have 40 – and Dom Sibley only has one of them. Pollock has cleared the ropes four times already with a couple of massive heaves over the leg side.

This pitch looks very hard indeed and I don’t think pace is going to be the answer. Pace off, surely?

Birmingham 40/0 off three overs (Pollock 39*)

11am: Here we go, then! Colin Ingram’s leg-spin is going to get the new ball…

10.45am: Jacques Rudolph has won the toss and will chase. With that batting line-up, featuring himself, Colin Ingram and David Miller, who can blame him.

Glamorgan: Aneurin Donald, Jacques Rudolph (capt), Colin Ingram, David Miller, Kiran Carlson, Chris Cooke (wk), Graham Bragg, Craig Meschede, Andrew Salter, Marchant de Lange, Michael Hogan

Birmingham: Ed Pollock, Dominic Sibley, Adam Hose, Sam Hain, Grant Elliott (capt), Colin de Grandhomme, Aaron Thomason, Tim Ambrose (wk), Jeetan Patel, Chris Woakes, Olly Stone
