Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi: FIRST LOOK at Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Force ghost?

Since the release of The Force Awakens,  fans have been wondering  if the Force ghosts from Return of the Jedi will be making an appearance.

After all, the voices of both Yoda and Obi-Wan were heard during Rey’s Force back vision after holding the Skywalker lightsaber.

Then came the first teaser for The Last Jedi, which again featured both deceased character’s whispering voices.

As spotted by Business Insider, a new toy in Disney and Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series including a six-inch Obi-Wan Kenobi Force ghost, to be released in November.

At first fans might just see this as a nod to Obi-Wan’s ghostly form in Return of the Jedi, however the toy has arrived with The Last Jedi characters, including Snoke.

Apparently the box, which labels Obi-Wan as “Force Spirit”, makes no reference to Return of the Jedi.

Additionally the description on the package suggests this could be Obi-Wan’s Force ghost, as seen in more than just one movie.

It reads: “Even after his untimely demise, Obi-Wan Kenobi remains a mentor to those strong with the Force.

“This 6-inch scale The Black Series figure features articulated movement and is based on the Force Ghost as seen in the films.”

Assuming Obi-Wan’s Force Ghost does return, it will be interesting to see how he is portrayed.

Will it be Ewan McGregor in aged make up or a digitally reconstructed Alec Guinness – something that was used to resurrect Peter Cushing for Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One?

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will be released in UK cinemas on December 14, 2017.
