Pound coin: Do you have THIS rare £2 worth a whopping sum in your wallet?

A two pound coin that is selling online for £15 could be hiding in your wallet.

Have you spotted this coin created to celebrate a tercentenary, which is the three-hundredth anniversary of a significant event?

This specific coin, minted in 1994, was created to celebrate the 300-year anniversary for the Bank of England.

An image of the coin was posted online by an avid coin collector on Imgur.

They wrote on the image sharing website: “Mostly made of brass, around 1,200,000 were made.

“I was given this one in change by a shopkeeper who knew I liked interesting coins in St.Ives, Cornwall, UK 1995.”

The coin has an image of the bank’s corporate seal, including the Crown and Cypher of King William and Queen Mary.

It was designed by Lelsie Durbin, and can be spotted easily by the inscription around the side.

This reads “Sic vos non vobis”, which means “thus you labour but not for yourselves”.

The coin is going for around £15 on sites like Ebay.

Another rare two pound coin in circulation could earn you £30.

The coin was minted in 2002 to celebrate the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

The two pound coin shows a figure waving a flag in the centre.

Imgur user Givemeyourhate, who is an avoid collector of coins, claims his Manchester commonwealth £2 coin is worth £20.

He wrote on his post on the image sharing website: “I believe this one and the one below are both quite rare, and would fetch a pretty penny if i were to sell them! This one worth £20.”

The design was created by Matthew Bonaccorsi, and won a competition to be featured on the coin.

Royal Mint said: “The winning entry in a competition, represents celebration, victory and sportsmanship.”
