North Korea skewers US attempts to track missiles as ‘silly dream’ amid WW3 tensions

Kim Jong-un continued the war of words with US President Donald Trump across international waters, claiming any attempts by the “puppets” to locate North Korea’s ballistic missile launchers will not produce any useful result.

Rodong Sinmun, the mouthpiece of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, scorned the war allies military drills to detect and destroy the reclusive state’s transporter-erector-launcher (TEL) as nothing but “laughable”.

Joint US-South Korea military exercises were carried out in August, with a total of 17,500 troops from the US, South Korea and Britain took part in a nuclear war simulation.

South Korea is also undertaking exercises in parliament, based on the scenario of an attack from Pyongyang with the building being evacuated.

Rodong Simun said: “Any attempt by the puppets to detect and destroy our TELs in advance is nothing but a silly dream.

“The puppets in South Korea will never avoid catastrophes as long as they continue to run amok.

The newspaper also bragged about how the US and its regional allies failed to track Pyongyang’s two intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tests in July.

Rodong Sinmun also boasted about how the US was aware of the North Korean military’s deception capabilities.

It said: ”Our strategic weapons are ready to thoroughly annihilate the strongholds of aggression and provocation from any unpredictable region and place anytime.”

Mr Trump and Kim have issued provocative warnings to one-another, with the US President insisting he is not afraid to unleash “fire and fury”. He later added that the threat was not “tough enough”.

Meanwhile, Kim hosted a photo event in Pyongyang with over two thousand soldiers of the Korean People’s Army youth league, state media in the isolated country reported.

The photoshoot was announced in the midst of a number of reports that the Pyongyang government is on the verge a carrying out a sixth nuclear bomb test, possibly timed to coincide with the anniversary of the found of the North Korean state – September 9 – next week.
