Despite overspending its inflated budget, MEPs insisted £2million was needed to travel to and from Brussels and Strasbourg on a regular basis.
The spending demands, branded as a “gravy train farce”, are laid out to pay for hotel rooms and a “daily allowance” for meals and entertainment.
And documents revealed that Euro fat cats want an extra £1.2million to fund a fleet of chauffeur-driven vehicles used by MEPs.
The document stated the European Parliament staff needed the money to travel to the Strasbourg headquarters, or else they would not be able to conduct political procedures.
The European Parliament cost taxpayers around £175million every year despite being used for only one week a month.
UKIP MEP Jonathan Arnott, who sits on the European Parliament budget committee, yesterday said: “Shuttling from Brussels to Strasbourg and back is an unnecessary waste of money, energy and time.”
Staff are now entitled to €180 (£156) to pay for a hotel every day, as well as a €102 (£94) daily tax-free allows for unspecified expenses, following a recent 20 per cent increase in the allowance.
The revelations come after the EU had to admit that its most senior officials had claimed tens of thousands of pounds to hire private jets and stay at luxury hotels.
Those embroiled included Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, as well a the head of EU foreign affairs, Federica Mogherini.
The figures revealed that EU officials spent more than £90,000 on chartering planes which are described on their expense claims as “air taxis”.
The fee for one of the “air taxis” racked up as £24,450 for a private jet from Brussels to Rome, used by Mr Juncker and an eight-people delegation in February 2016.
Meanwhile, EU politicians have officially banned powerful vacuum cleaners in Britain.
The new European Union energy rule means manufacturers will not be able to make or import vacuum cleaners with a motor exceeded 900 watts.
