Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville: I couldn’t stand watching six Arsenal players at Liverpool

Arsenal slumped to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s men ran riot.

It was Arsenal’s second defeat of the campaign and a performance that sparked question marks once again over Arsene Wenger’s future.

But Neville was in particular critical of the players.

During the match he suggested Arsenal transfer list every player but has now claimed there are around six who don’t deserve their spot in the team.

The former Manchester United defender also feels Wenger pulled off some good transfer business with the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, while Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were also retained.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left the club in a £35million transfer to Liverpool.

He told Sky Sports: “I think if you said at the end of last season after they won the FA Cup final they’d keep Alexis Sanchez, keep Ozil, bring £40m in for a player who has flattered to deceive over the last few years, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and get Lacazette and strengthen defence with Kolasinac, I don’t think you would have said it’s a bad transfer window.

“I think the issue is that last Sunday, that’s the problem.

“There were five or six players on that pitch to be honest with you who – I wouldn’t have transfer listed them all it was just something I said during the game – but there are five or six to be honest with you I couldn’t stand watching them.

“It defied logic. It’s something about personal pride and standards.

“People can argue it’s coming from the manager but ultimately it’s something inside them saying you’ve got to work harder for your football club.

“It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.”
