Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro release date, price, features

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is the flagship new wearable from the South Korean company.

Although the technology firm did not unveil the hotly-anticipated Gear S4 smartwatch, this new fitness tracker boasts similar functionality.

The Gear Fit2 Pro tracks a huge variety of workouts – including those in the pool.

The flagship wearable is 5 ATM1 certified for water resistance. It also ships with Speedo’s latest swimming training app, Speedo On, which allows users to easily track key swim metrics including lap count, lap time, stroke type, and more.

Samsung has fitted a Super AMOLED curved 1.5-inch touchscreen display to the front of the band.

This widescreen touchscreen is used to start, pause and stop a workout. It also displays make real-time updates and notifications.

Samsung lets you customise your own wellness plan with tailored goals and alerts.

Automatic activity detection is also built into the device and is capable of recognising when you start walking, running, and cycling.

You don’t need to remember to manually start a workout – the tracker does it for you.

Gear Fit2 Pro also includes a built-in GPS to track your route when you’re out-and-about on a run or ride.

While this is happening – the fitness band will be continuously monitoring your heart-rate throughout the activity.

Samsung says it has worked hard to improve accuracy.

The Gear Fit2 Pro includes 4GB of onboard storage, as well as 512MB of RAM.

Thanks to a new partnership with Spotify, Gear Fit2 Pro owners can listen to saved music online, offline or even without your smartphone.

President of Samsung Mobile Communications Business, DJ Koh said: “At Samsung, we celebrate the everyday athlete – whether you’re going for a light jog, or training for your next triathlon.

“We have a long history of embracing choice and innovation, and our wearables are designed to help consumers of varying fitness levels meet their goals and aspirations. We want to help remove the stigma that fit can only mean one thing and that fitness trackers are complex and for only the most intense of workouts.

“Our new Samsung Gear wearables help consumers ‘go beyond fitness’ and enjoy an active, balanced and fulfilled life in a smart and seamless way.”

Gear Fit2 Pro is available in both Black and Red.

Unfortunately, Samsung has stayed pretty tight-lipped about when the Gear Fit2 Pro will launch in the UK.

Previous leaks pointed to a UK price of around £199, although this was not confirmed at the event.
