Manchester City are determined to sign Sanchez from Arsenal after months of interest.
Pep Guardiola’s side have offered Raheem Sterling to the Gunners as part of a player-plus-cash bid and are waiting to hear a response.
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have been trying to sign the Arsenal star as well, while the player was linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier in the window.
But journalist De Brun claims United ARE actually keen to sign the 28-year-old as well, but Arsene Wenger would rather sell to City.
“Utd are interested in Sanchez but AW would rather sell to City supposedly,” he said on Twitter.
Manchester United have spent the summer pursuing a winger but with little luck.
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has been heavily linked but Los Blancos are reluctant to let the Wales international depart.
Another name in the frame is Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
Liverpool have failed with two bids for the 21-year-old and United were thought to be among the clubs keen to snap him up.
But De Brun said a move to Old Trafford is unlikely for the France international.
“As for Lemar, can’t get a single source to confirm United’s interest,” he added.
United have so far signed three players in the form of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
