The character, played by Lupita Nyong’o, appeared briefly in Episode 7: The Force Awakens, but was a key player nonetheless.
Now, despite speculation that she would be seen even less in The Last Jedi, her involvement in the storyline may have now come to light.
According to Making Star Wars, she might just have something to do with Benicio Del Toro’s DJ.
“Maz apparently introduces the Resistance to DJ,” the site’s source said.
“She helps the Resistance by pointing them toward a ‘mysterious new ally.’
“Maz has been forced to become more mobile and take more of a role in the criminal underworld.”
Increased mobility for Maz would certainly be an exciting prospect for fans – now we have to wait four more months for answers on just what she’ll get up to in Episode 8.
New details have been scarce recently, at least as far as official announcements are concerned, but yesterday director Rian Johnson dropped a small nugget of information.
He tweeted: “The most wipe transitions in a SW movie was Ep 1, with 55.
“To my eternal shame, The Last Jedi is bringing up the rear with a measly 12.”
