Mats Hummels to Liverpool: Bayern Munich star’s tweet sparks fan frenzy

Liverpool dismantled Arsenal at Anfield 4-0, with goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge.

The win left Reds’ fans beaming, including Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels who tweeted he was enjoying the match.

When asked if he was watching, he replied: “I am. Another strong performance from LFC, pretty impressive right now…”

The tweet has prompted a huge response from Liverpool fans who think the centre-half should reunite with Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside.

“You and [Joel] Matip would be quality together Mats,” one fan wrote.

“Hand in a transfer request and push for a move to Liverpool. Reunite with Klopp,” another added.

“There’s a centre-back spot up for grabs if you want it…” a third supporter said.

While another simply wrote: “Announce Hummels.”

Hummels signed a five-year deal at Bayern last summer following eight-and-a-half years at their biggest rivals Borussia Dortmund, working under Klopp.

And earlier in the summer he admitted he could not rule out leaving Bayern for a return to his former club.

“Theoretically, yes, I would, even though I probably really shouldn’t say this,” he told German TV show Schulz and Bohmermann.

Liverpool are in the market for a centre-half and have struggled to get a deal over the line for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk all summer.
