Xbox One X pre order update, games news and PS4 Pro boost

Xbox One X pre order pages went live earlier this week and there’s so far been a lot of interest.

The new upgraded console has been selling out from stores in both North America and the UK, although restocks will continue to arrive.

It will be welcome news to the tech giant, who will be looking to the Xbox One X to help make up some ground against the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Microsoft have revealed that sales of the new console are actually above what they expected, which could mean that they’ll need to ramp up production.

“We expected out inventory to last for about a week, but we sold out in less than a day,” Microsoft marketing manager Aaron Greenberg told Rocket Beans

“We don’t share the amounts, but the Project Scorpio Edition was for those core fans, the people that used to sort of line up in front of the stores.”

As mentioned above, the special Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition console has been the first to go on sale, featuring a unique design for both console and controller.

And in more news released this week, it appears that the Xbox One X has been given a big boost against Sony’s PS4 Pro.

It’s been confirmed that the Xbox One X has now officially overtaken the PS4 Pro on the Amazon U.S. 2017 Best Sellers list.

An analyst at Niko Partners has crunched the numbers and revealed that the Xbox One X is now ahead of its biggest rival, even though the upgraded PlayStation console has been available all year.

“Xbox One X pre orders seem to be doing well on Amazon,” Daniel Ahmad posted on Twitter.

“Already ahead of PS4 Pro on Amazon US for 2017 YTD.

“This is an indication that XB1X pre orders are doing quite well, especially since pre orders just started. Can’t infer more than that though.”

The PS4 Pro has already been confirmed to be a good seller for Sony, who believe it makes up about 1/5 of PS4 console sales.

So it could be massive news for Microsoft if the Xbox One X can keep up with its early success, or even continue to surpass it.

The Xbox One X exclusive games list may be looking a little light this year, but Microsoft still claims it has the “biggest franchises” and “biggest exclusives”.

Despite cancelling exclusive games like Scalebound and Fable Legends, and more recently delaying Crackdown 3 until next year, Microsoft believes there are some great games coming this coming holiday season.

The questionable claims were made by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg, who told Gamescom attendees that people choose Xbox because of its exclusives.

“People pick Xbox because we have the biggest franchises, the biggest exclusives, whether you are a fan of Halo, or Gears of War, or Forza,” Greenberg said.

Greenberg backed up the claims by reeling off high-profile exclusives and timed exclusives like Forza 7, Battlegrounds and Cuphead.

“This Holiday, personally, I’m really excited, [because] Xbox One will be the only console where you will be able to play Forza 7, Cuphead, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which we are super excited about.”

Next year’s slate also looks promising, as the likes of Sea of Thieves and State of Decay join the games list.

“Also timed with the Xbox One X launch we have Super Lucky’s Tale coming, that’s exclusive,” he continued. But it doesn’t stop there, because into the Spring, we have Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3.

“So we’re basically non stop hitting our fans with more and more exclusive titles, so there will be tons of great games to play.”
