Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp will be busy in next six days – Craig Bellamy

There are just six days until the window slams shut on August 31 and Liverpool have been far from busy in the transfer market.

They spent £35million on Mohamed Salah and he’s been followed to Anfield by Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke.

Liverpool qualified for the Champions League group stages this week and Bellamy thinks that will now spark a spending splurge.

The former Anfield hero told Paddy Power: “Expect Liverpool to be busy in the transfer market this week.

“Liverpool as a club is always a huge carrot to dangle in front of players anyway, they’re a massive draw for a lot of footballers – but the Champions League is where every top players wants to play.

“Now Liverpool know they’re in the Champions League, I expect a busy week of transfers at Anfield.

“We’ve known the areas Jurgen Klopp needs to address for a long time, and he’s clearly aware of it, too, with the players he’s tried to draft in this summer.

“They still need more at centre back and a defensive midfielder would be a key signing for me.

“When they sit in, Liverpool are OK, but they are very vulnerable to the counter attack – I want to see them go and get players who can shore that area up.

“Defensively, Liverpool have had a problem for years now. You will still get chances against them.

“Against the top teams, you have to work very hard to create an opportunity. However, Liverpool will always give you at least one chance in a game. Sometimes, that’s one chance too many.”
