Call of Duty WW2 takes a cue from Destiny with THIS incredible new feature

Call of Duty WW2 pre-order customers are getting ready for the start of the closed beta on PS4.

The Call of Duty WW2 beta has an August 25 release date for PS4 pre-order customers, followed by a second beta period – for PS4 and Xbox One – on September 1 at 6pm UK time.

But while the beta will give fans the chance to play a selection of maps and game modes, it won’t feature the brand new Headquarters social space, which has just been showcased by Activision.

It’s probably a good thing, because judging by the Headquarters trailer, fans may not want to leave.

Reminiscent of Destiny’s Tower, the new social space will give players the chance to practice in the firing range, earn rewards by manning AA guns and more.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

There’s even a 1-v-1 multiplayer Pit, as well as a dedicated area to watch eSports matches.

The Call of Duty: WW2 multiplayer beta may not include Headquarters, but there’s still plenty more to sink your teeth into.

Pre-order customers can check out Operation Breakout in War Mode, enlist in all five divisions and check out three maps.

Infantry, Expeditionary, Airborne, Armored, and Mountain Division all feature alongside a progression system.

Players will begin at Soldier Rank 1 and rank up to unlock weapons, scorestreaks, equipment, and Basic Training Skills.

New content is expected to be added during the Call of Duty WW2 beta.

If you haven’t pre-ordered Call of Duty WW2 and don’t have access to the beta, then you might want to head over to this week’s Insomnia61 festival instead.

“PlayStation will be showing the latest game from the most popular series in the world – Call of Duty: WWII, where all attendees will be able to get their first ever hands-on experience with the Private Beta, ahead of the full release on November 3,” reads a festival statement.

Insomnia61 takes place at the Birmingham NEC from August 25 until August 28. Tickets are available from as little as £26.14 from the festival website.

Until Activison announces an open beta – which could happen further down the line – this might be your best bet.
